On 9/30/11, long-time wildlife rehabilitator, Roland “Fred” Friedrick left this planet to continue his next journey without us.

Not only was Fred a friend to Wisconsin wildlife everywhere and a staunch supporter of Wild Instincts, he was a close personal friend.

Recently, I heard a quote by Kahil Gibran: “A sense of humor is a sense of proportion.”  By that standard, Fred was a man of large proportion and we’re sure will be remembered as such.

His absence will be felt by many on many different levels, but he lives on tucked deep into our hearts and that of the wildlife we
encounter.
