WHY INTERN AT WILD INSTINCTS? To get more experience working with mammals and handle animals we don’t see in Iowa.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL & WHY? Gray wolf. I’ve always loved them since I was little.
WHAT’S BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE HERE SO FAR? Remembering minute details about the care of so many different species.
FAVORITE CULVER’S FLAVOR OF THE DAY: Caramel Fudge Cookie Dough
BEST MOMENT SO FAR: moving the resident eagle into the eagle flight enclosure. It made all the hard work of putting up screen, predator proofing, substrate moving, perch installation, etc. worth it!

STUDYING: Major: Wildlife Ecology (Research/Management) Minors: Captive Wildlife, Conservation Biology, Biology
WHY INTERN AT WILD INSTINCTS? I enjoyed volunteering here last year for a couple weeks. I wanted to come back for longer and learn more about cage building, enrichment and wildlife rehab.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL & WHY? Turtles. I always wanted one as a kid, but wasn’t allowed to have one. While in Costa Rica I got to watch sea turtles laying eggs on the beach. It left an impression on me.

BEST MOMENT SO FAR: Planning and building the furnishings and enrichments in the new raccoon enclosure.

WHAT’S BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE HERE SO FAR? Learning bird anatomy.
FAVORITE CULVER’S FLAVOR OF THE DAY: Caramel Fudge Cookie Dough
BEST MOMENT SO FAR: Seeing all our hard work on constructing the eagle flight enclosure make a difference when we moved the resident bald eagle into it.
